2017 and the Old Testament

Throughout 2017, some of us will be spending time in the eleven books that make up the main narrative of the Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, 1 & 2 Samuel, 1 & 2 Kings, Ezra, and Nehemiah. Over the course of the year, we will be reading, memorizing a chronological outline, and studying the theology and main ideas of each book. If you would like to join us in this endeavor, let me know, and I will forward you the material and plan. We start January 1.

And coming in 2018, we will focus some of our time in the Gospel of Matthew, studying the life of Jesus for the purpose of knowing and loving our Savior better so that we will follow him closely.

Scripture Memory

In 2017, we will continue working on memorizing some key passages in the Bible (we are also studying these passages in the adult Sunday school class). We have worked through Psalm 1, Ephesians 1:3–14, Isaiah 52:13–53:12, Hebrews 10:19–25, Psalm 23, 2 Timothy 2:1–13, and we are currently working through Psalm 119:1–8. The notes from previous discussions are available under the “Bible Study Notes” tab at the top of the page. Whether or not you join us for class, we would love for you to join us in memorizing God’s word in 2017.

Current Sermon Series

Over the next several months, we will be spending time in the book of Exodus. This Sunday (11/19), we will be taking a slight detour to Romans 6 to seek to better apply some of the truths from Exodus 4 and 5.

Our Sunday Gathering

We gather on Sundays around 9:30 for coffee and fellowship. We then have elementary, junior & senior high, and adult fellowship classes beginning around 9:45. In the summer months we also have a college age class. Our worship services begin around 11:00 with singing, prayer, and time spent looking at what the Bible says to us, followed most mornings by a time of corporate discussion based on the morning’s Scripture passage.
